The ‘S’ Word…

Yes, I’m talking about SINGLE! With Valentines Day coming up and things that have happened to me recently, it really got me thinking. Now I have been single for a LONG time, like a long time…but if I’m being completely honest with you, I’m pretty happy about it. I’m not gonna lie, obviously having someone to cuddle and share things with would be nice but I definitely don’t need a man to complete me or to make me fully happy! I saw this on Pinterest and I think it couldn’t be more spot on…

This photo is just amazing…and it is so true! I feel like sometimes in life we are always in such a rush to find things that will make us happy e.g. A MAN that we start slightly changing who we are to make it work or to make them love us more and like this photo says its the biggest mistake we can make. We as women have been creating and developing ourselves, our personalities, our passions for years so why should we try and change ourselves to make a man happy?! I have definitely been guilty of this in the past…aiming to please just because I thought it was what I wanted! Turns out…it wasn’t. I remember in my first relationship, I thought I was so in love and I thought it was going to be forever. I was so young and so naive that I just turned a blind eye to what was going on right under my nose just because it was easier to carry on rather to admit he was up to no good. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t change any previous relationship for anything because they have turned out to be the best life lessons for my future that I have ever had! But a few unsuccessful relationships later, I’ve come to the realisation that focusing on my life and what I want is the most important thing right now! I am definitely a woman who is in a full blown relationship with her career…being away from home for 8 months of the year isn’t exactly a solid foundation to start a relationship! And I’m super happy with that! I know that one day, I will meet someone who will turn my world upside down and it will be magic and all of that nonsense…but right now I’m pretty happy and content being the third wheel everywhere I go!

single woman
A female who prides herself in independence and freedom. She is the life of the party, and the inventor of fun! She lives an exciting, fast-paced life which many envy.

“Today’s single woman is so rad! She can have it all; nothing slows her down.”

If you yourself are a single girl, don’t rush into anything for the sake of it! Embrace being single and the independence it brings you! Go out and live your life, fulfil your dreams and destiny before its too late! Literally nothing is holding you back! Here’s to every single girl out there…we are the best!

So since I got back to the UK after my last cruise contract, I picked up a Christmas temp job at a retail store to keep me occupied before I go away again…which was excellent, super flexible hours and I had money coming in. WINNING! Anyway, this is the last week working at this place but I still have another three weeks before I fly out to Germany to start rehearsals…now that is A LOT of time to try and find things to do to keep me busy without spending ridiculous amounts of money AND without being a complete slob and lazing about all day every day! I’m not gonna lie…it’s going to be a challenge to try and be productive in these 3 weeks! So…I thought I would try and come up with a plan to help me…

First things first, I am NOT a morning person! AT ALL! I can easily stay in bed until lunch time, and then maybe stay in my PJs all day and then thats another day wasted! So, I am going to create a morning routine to trick myself into liking mornings…well I’m gonna give it a good go anyway!

  • DO NOT SNOOZE MY ALARM! I am very guilty of snoozing my alarm until the very last minute, having to rush around and then the majority of the time being late! So, I am going to aim to get up as soon as my alarm goes off…
  • Get up at the same time every day! I’m going to try and get into a routine of going to sleep and getting up at the same time each day…even if I have nothing to do! For me, a ly-in becomes a wasted day!
  • EXERCISE EARLY! As you may know from my last post, I am trying to work out at least 5 times a week but I am finding that the later into the day it gets, the less motivated I become! So I’m going to try and make my workout one of my first priorities at the start of the day…apparently it improves your day as well so I’m gonna give it a go! 😀
  • Have a decent breakfast! Not gonna lie, I’m not a massive breakfast and usually just skip it or just have a cup of tea in the morning! But not anymore…big breakfast for me to start the day off properly!

So 4 simple points to try and kick start my day and not waste any days in the next three weeks before leave…or at least make them as productive as possible! Apparently it takes 21 days to break a habit…which is the perfect amount of time! I’m going to start with these 4 things, then maybe add more into my morning routine as I become more of a morning person…well fingers crossed at least!

So here’s to being a morning person and making the most out of this F-Unemployment period! If any of you reading this have any tips that may help me then please let me know and I will let you know how I get on!

‘BECOME A MORNING PERSON’ – Challenge Accepted 😀

Hello 2017…

WE’VE MADE IT! I think it’s safe to say that 2016 has been a very interesting year for us all, it’s definitely had a lot more ‘ups and downs’ than any other year I can remember! However saying that, looking back over the last year, I think its very important as we enter the new year to reflect and appreciate how far we have all come and all the amazing things that happened in 2016! I, for one, have had an amazing year and am entering 2017 feeling very lucky and content. So…a bit about me and a tiny bit about what I got up to in 2016…

My name is Phoebe, I’m 23 years old, I’m from a small village in Somerset in the South West of England, I am a professional Singer/Dancer and have the spent the last year travelling the world singing on a cruise ship…that’s pretty much me in a  nutshell 🙂 “You’re job is so glamorous!” people often say to me…and it’s true! In my opinion I have the best job in the world and I feel lucky every day to be able to do what I love and travel the world at the same time. BUT…getting here was extremely hard work! I trained at a full time musical theatre college for 3 years…and it was intense…12 hour days, fully packed schedule and no time for excuses. It wasn’t an easy ride. It really bothers me when people talk about Musical Theatre like its easy and a “cop out” of studying at university because let me tell you, until you’ve been in a fully packed audition room with 500 people fighting for just one job, you will never understand how difficult it really is! The Performing Arts industry is one of the hardest industries to work in…10 times the amount of people than there are jobs! It’s not easy and nobody was going to do it for you. It had to be your drive and determination that got you to where you want to be. Which is what I did, I worked hard, blood, sweat and tears…and I would do it all again in a heartbeat if I could. (Sorry for the ramble…will talk more about Musical Theatre College in a later post). So anyway, I went to an audition and got cast as a Lead Vocalist for a cruise company which was amazing! So far I have done 3 contracts and about to start my 4th in February this year! Last year I did a contract in Asia, docking in Japan, China and South Korea which was absolutely incredible, and another contract in the Mediterranean Sea which was also beautiful and lovely to keep up that tan! 9 months of the year at sea and 10 different countries..not bad ey!

So…as we have just finished the first week of 2017 (it wasn’t so bad was it?), it’s that time of year where we all look forward and focus on our hopes and dreams for the next 365 days. Where do you want to be in a year? What do you want to achieve? This year I have decided to set myself some New Years Resolutions! I’m always a bit dubious about New Years Resolutions as I’m not very good at keeping them for longer than about 2 days but maybe 2017 is my year that I keep them, and if i write them in a blog for the world to see, then I have no excuse right…?

  1. Read at least 12 new books this year
  2. Learn German (You work for a German company…come on!)S
  4. Work out 5 times a week
  5. Go to sleep earlier
  6. Drink more water
  7. DRY JANUARY (this will probably be the hardest)
  8. Write a blog

They aren’t tooooo unrealistic…but we will see how long they last!

Anyway, that is all for my first ever blog post..eeeeeek! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

– Start every day like it’s your birthday!-

All my love, Phoebe x
